001 / the video

went down an absolute rabbit hole of this video’s creator the other day because I just LOVE WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE!!!!! it’s a brilliant way of combining niches (just like I spoke about in this email last week!) sharing outfit inspo while also covering topics that go far and beyond fashion and connect more to their work as a therapist. NOT TO MENTION, THE SIMPLICITY! we’ve got some good lighting, balanced, legible text, filmed in a single frame… love love love!!!!

you already know I absolutely LOVE when creators can call things out without getting nasty, and I thought this was such a sweet way to stand firmly in their lane x POV while laughing off some trolling. while obviously it’s so normal to get frustrated when folks don’t react kindly to our content, I do think it’s an opportunity to examine how firmly we’re willing to stand in our values, whether or not that means speaking up. also, this is a fabulous way to create content that continues a conversation — if you’re noticing a theme coming up in comments you’re getting (whether they’re nice or not so much!) what can you create from that?

I know we’re quite post-january by now but I couldn’t let this save go un-featured!! I am literally freaky feral for everything going on here, from the fact that they’re using their portfolio work as a monthly anchor (something I highly advise for creative service pros!) to the surprise + delight mixed media of it all!!!!! we get to experience their wild creative skill through the slides and get subtle glimpses into their personality and collaborators in the caption. it’s giving plentyyyyyyy behind the scenes BUT in a fresh way, with screenshots of bits we don’t often see in the standard “design with me” type content styles.
004 / the article

okay of course I’m biased because I got to participate in the experience about which this article speaks, but I didn’t just save it for that reason. I’m often asked how we can translate IRL magic into content, and the fact is: we can’t. that’s the beauty of it. but we can still share about the experience, and I love the approach Lois took here, which includes a thought-provoking convo (valuable to the reader regardless of whether they book a retreat spot) but also showcases the retreat experience and it’s impact, making it a powerful promotional tool without being “a promotional post.”
005 / the episode

omg my bias is showing AGAIN! promotion my own co-hosted episode this week because it’s fucking good, k? I’ve been doing some exploration lately re: learning to put work DOWN — even though I love it!!! — in favour of pursuing pleasure outside of it, and we dug into that conversation a bunch during this episode. Kaitlyn helped me figured out some systems for holding better boundaries around my working hours, and then I helped her remember what she’s really known for so that she can lean further in those directions, content-wise.
BTW, we’re also doing a cool thing now where we’re answering your questions on the pod if you submit!! you can send us your query anonymously (or not, whatever you prefer) and we’ll coach you during our coaching corner. HOW FUN. the form is here!
